To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
1 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good.
2 The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
3 They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is none who does good, no, not one.
4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call on the LORD?
5 There they are in great fear, for God is with the generation of the righteous.
6 You shame the counsel of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge.
7 Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD brings back the captivity of His people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.
When the Lord brings back the captivity of His people, not if, but when. Too many times we say we believe in God, but then we live our lives as though we don’t. I am not talking about Christmas and Easter Christians, I’m not even talking about the guy who cuts you off in traffic the flips you “the finger” with a fish outline bumper sticker on his car. What I mean is we claim to trust God with our eternal souls, but when it comes to navigating our day to day life we follow our own plan and don’t even bother to ask God what needs our attention. Why do we wait until our plan has blown up to ask God what His plan is. We don’t want to wait for God. We want it now. We push, we pull, we cut, we paste, we beg, borrow, and steal to force what we want when we want it, and what is the result of our effort? A house of sticks built on a foundation of sand.
Don’t be this fool who is so foolish, he doesn’t even know how stupid he really is. Take the time to ask God what His plan for you is. Never let the fear of what the answer might be prevent you from asking the question “God what is Your perfect will for me?” Remember what he told us through Jeremiah. His plans for us involve a hope and a future, to prosper and not to harm. Go to God, believe that He is, and believe that He will reward those who seek Him with diligence.
